My Story
I graduated from Glenbrook North in 2024 and am currently pursuing a degree in marketing at the University of Iowa. My decision to study marketing was heavily influenced by a mentor who runs his own social media consulting business. His ability to connect with clients and build trust has inspired me to sharpen my communication skills and forge my own path. My journey with Student Maintenance started through my two closest friends, Pierce and Erik. They have always pushed me to improve, and when they offered me a role in the summer of 2024, I wanted to take it immediately. But I had already committed to working as a summer camp counselor. Still, they found a way to bring me in, making room for me on the marketing team. From that moment, I knew this was something special. My first semester at Iowa was tough. Adjusting to a new environment left me feeling lost, and I struggled with motivation. I planned to put in a few hours a week marketing for Student Maintenance but found myself falling behind. Over winter break, Pierce and Erik encouraged me to refocus, and I didn’t want to let them, or myself, down. So I made a commitment to my academics, to Student Maintenance, and to pushing myself forward. Marketing excites me because it’s both strategic and creative. I love the challenge of capturing an audience’s attention in unique ways. But my favorite part is working with a team, bouncing ideas back and forth and building something together. Marketing isn’t just about promotion; it’s about storytelling and connection. Beyond marketing, Student Maintenance represents something much bigger. This isn’t just a job, it’s a stepping stone. I see myself staying with this company long-term while also exploring other entrepreneurial ventures. Student Maintenance is giving me firsthand experience in building something meaningful, and I know this is just the beginning. This summer, our goal is to establish Student Maintenance Enterprises as a trusted name in the Chicago North Shore community. We hold ourselves to a high standard, ensuring that every project enhances not just the homes we work on, but the community as a whole. Student Maintenance isn’t just about providing a service, it’s about setting a standard of integrity and dedication. Being part of this team has reinforced my belief in the power of purposeful work. People do their best when they have a reason behind it and a strong team beside them. That’s the culture we’re building at Student Maintenance, one where we push each other to be better every day. This journey has already shaped me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Success doesn’t come from waiting, it comes from taking action. And as we continue to grow Student Maintenance, I know this is just the beginning of what we can build together.
